If
America, the best Freedom Fighter nation that fought for and won her
independence from Great Britain, using the same kind of resistance and civil
disobedience, that the Chechnyans are being guillotined for and killed in their
thousands by the Russians, can now assume the Bush position, and defend it, the
whole world has be wary of America, and her intentions with her allies around
the world. ~~ Wunmi Akintide
I
figured Nigeria is in
a greater danger when the killing of innocent school children, market women and
moviegoers is termed “civil disobedience.” Whence the peaceful movement by
MASSOB is being dehumanized and labeled a terror organ by men who ought to know
better but chose to play the tribal cards yet again. These Ali Mazrui wannabes
must be told in no hushed tone that their maddening and bloated egoistical
nuances have reached a dead end. I used to hold this author esteemed until I
began to pay close attention to his one-sided Igbo bashing raves then it began
to occur to me how dangerous and wicked this charcoal skinned is. As writers
and scholars we must set out to uncover the truth no matter where it leads.
This, my friends, is the epitome of a good writer and a testament to prepared
mind, a trait that is sorely missing in Nigeria.
MASSOB a non-violent assembly
according to the Yoroba is a terrorist organization that ought to be tried for
treason whereas sympathy is expressed towards the dangerous terrorist
Chechnyans killers who overrun schools occupied by innocent children to kill
and maim. “Odi kwa nu egwu ooooo!” Unbelievable! If one is to take writers such
as this serious, the facts must be sifted from these jargons we’re daily
bombarded with. Such viewpoints are reduced to nothing the moment apples are
seen as fufu, ewedu or kpomo instead of what it is… apples. Even the U.S. used
the same approach by MASSOB to get what it wanted, real democracy from Britain.
Democracy - government of, by and for the people in case this guy forgot. An
excerpt from history’s books is needed to further drive this point home.
On the night of December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty, a secret group of men, banded together and dumped 342 chests of
tea off three ships in the Boston Harbor. This event was important in American history because it showed
how the Patriots began to resist the British government.
Replace “Sons of
Liberty/Patriots,” with “MASSOB” then the picture becomes even clearer. Wunmi

note! During America’s founding
fathers’ fight for independence we, particularly myself never read in the
annals of American history or heard where they bombed hospitals, killed
innocent women and school children. Yet the author of the quote treads
recklessly on this area as if he knows what the hell he’s saying. Throughout
the American struggle their main targets were military installations and
barracks, they even resorted to a much effective means through the “Boston Tea
Party,” which ultimately led to American independence Mr. Ph.D.
Well, I got news for Wunmi
Akintide, since he’s in constant loggerhead with the U.S. policy
towards real terrorists and terrorism why don’t he get the hell out of the U.S.? This
writer hates the governance and leadership of Nigeria so
much so I remained outside her shores, could Wunmi do similarly? Where these
self-acclaimed scholars source for information should be a major concern for
readers whose objectives are to embellish upon their knowledge. Why do this
fella always show sympathy towards real terror institutions but willing to
obliterate innocent peaceful marchers in his own nation? With this question we
now jump to the mother of all goofs below.
Government cannot sit back and watch any movement or
organisation do anything that would jeopardise the unity of this country. What
MASSOB is doing amounts to treason and they have to be stopped.
Akintola
Olujimi Yoroba Attorney General and so-called
Minister for Justice.
This is really
the reason for this article; the main event if you will as such no stone will
be left unturned. When truth stands on end and in an upside down
position, innocent people suffer and this anyone with one-quarter of a brain
should know. How could anyone with real blood running through his veins not
condemn the idiotic and primitive utterances of a supposed keeper of law?
MASSOB and the entire Eastern Region’s non-violent freedom fighters that by the
way employ the peaceful approach enjoyed by people of the yore are condemned as
dangerous terrorists whereas the terrorism enjoyed by Chechnyan killers are
hailed as “civil disobedience?”
This position in my view is a
wicked load of nonsense! It is at times like this that one recoils in
wonderment if this is the kind of stuff that induced Aminu Kano to respond to
an inquiry by his Asian associate in the manner he did. Aminu Kano was once
asked why Nigeria was
(still) in such a mess by an Asian, in the usual Nigerian way of answering
question with question, Aminu asked the man if Yoroba exist in his country. To
which the Asian man answered in the negative, no! Amino advised that to cure Nigeria of her
ills is to expunge the Yoroba. (Aminu’s jestful position not mine, recited
without malice).
With all due respect to my in-laws,
they legitimized this statement with the nonsense the clueless ones (majority)
support therefore my job is to discredit the lies at every turn. When a
government officio makes such wanton and callous comments the rest of us expect
the Yoroba writers to strongly denounce this madness in the same way the author
of, “This Balogun of Owu, This President, This Obasanjo,” a non-Yoroba,
did when he let it be known that Obasanjo overstepped his bounds by involving
in a local Chieftaincy tussle. And in “A story about
a leper (IBB/Obasanjo) and his people” this afore author was
recognized for the quality of his work which cut across the ethnic jingoism
that is prevalent in articles most writers from the west post.
Obasanjo’s
involvement in a local matter did not affect this writer physically or
otherwise since my concern was the unfairness of using his position as a
bullying pulpit to illegally effect a change against the peoples’ wishes. For the
gazillion time let me remind the readers how much disdain I harbor for “lies
and the lying liars who tell them.” The so-called Attorney General and Minister
for Justice Akintola Olujimi, a Yoroba crass member of Obasanjo’s Kitchen
Cabinet has once again reared his prejudiced tentacles towards the Igbo nation
with the outrageous and inflammatory lies he peddles. This man who has no full
grasp of Nigerian legal jurisprudence exposed his stupor by labeling MASSOB a
terrorist and violent organization despite the known and established facts that
MASSOB operates as a non-violent assembly. I guess this kaikai, cheap
liquor guzzling AG was piqued by the attention MASSOB drew with the impressive
non-violent stay-at-home protest that was effectively managed without loss of
lives or properties. How could staying at home be considered a threat, to what?
Not one Yoroba or Awusa live
was lost in that peaceful symbolism yet this man who apparently graduated with
“Dan Quayle” grades, “D” grades considered a peace movement a threat? This kpomo
and ewedu eating beer belly has over stayed his time and would’ve let go
by a serious government that values and respects the constitution. The
credibility of the numerous cameo noisemakers on Gamji who spew their support
for the despotic government of Obasanjo continue to diminish with their silence
on the dangerous utterances of these wicked Yoroba men. Where are the assembly
members from Eastern Region and the rest of the nation when this lethal mouth,
Akintola Olujimi’s in his capacity make comments that are babyish at best and
outright stupid and dumb below that?
Their failure to strongly
denounce the undemocratic antecedents of a putative chief law enforcer remains
their wahala because as the saying goes, time, the final adjudicator
will tell of Obasanjo’s travails. A horse might be led to the waters but
forcing it to drink is another gig so let our neighbors in the west continue to
relish and celebrate their uncles’ misrule for
the day of reckoning would soon be here. An
outrage continues to occur in a country that has refused to reasonably take
stock as commonly done in nations with serious agendas. Nations whose survival
rests on the positive image it portends would halt and address the rooted
malignancy yet this tyrant’s kin rejoice and hail him as the new Hilter. That
nation would continue to wallow in its lies and feast on its excrement as long
as a constitutional guaranteed idea (civil protest) becomes a treasonable
offense in the eyes of a Yoroba administration that rubbished the last hope of
the ordinary man.
Somewhere I read that history’s
fallouts always consume people who ignore it as evidenced by the introduction
of the same technique employed by another efulefu aka Gowon. This is exactly
what Olujimi and his master are resorting to, give a dog a bad name then hang
it. In Gowon’s broadcast to his nation in May 27, 1967, he asserted and I quote, “The consequence
of these illegal sets has been the increasing deterioration of the
Nigerian economy. It has also produced uncertainty and insecurity generally and
pushed the country with increasing tempo towards total disintegration and
possible civil war and bloodshed on massive scale.”
The so-called “illegal” act
that prompted the declaration of war without giving peace a chance couldn’t pass
the muster of basic review. How could the refusal of the Easter Region to
cooperate with the Nigerian government over payment of accrued money from coal,
which is a natural product from the east lead to war? Something that could’ve
been handled civilly and amicably resolved set Gowon off. Respected readers and
members of this forum, this is what drove Gowon and his minions bananas. It
blinded their sense of reasoning to the boiling point that they embarked on a
thirty-month rampage. This war came even when Col. Emeka Ojukwu proposed, “if
the meeting was to make any progress, all the members must at the outset adopt
a resolution to renounce the use of force in the settlement
of Nigerian dispute.” - Minutes of ABURI Conference, January 1967.
A seasoned vigilant and
deductive thinker would come to one conclusion as to who
played the
war drums it does not require any special skills to see that Gowon was the one
hell bent on going to war. The attempt to distort history now is attributable
to the guilt these lying scallywags feel hence the futile and perennial effort
to conceal and distort their premature use of force. The Igbo/BIAFRANS have
always lived in peace with their minority brethren from other ethnic
backgrounds around and outside her borders. It was not until the invention of
the meaningless creation of new states did we start seeing ourselves as
“settlers” and all that jazz. Let there be light and there was light! I guess
we should take comfort by the position of two ebullient and venerable sons of
that nation who saw the pile of lies in Obasanjo’s position regarding MASSOB,
Ojukwu and the Igbo nation. Wole Soyinka and Gani Fawehinmi are men who have
remained steadfast in their fight for human rights and dignity they too found
Akintola Olujimi’s preposterous position laughable with their unabashed support
for MASSOB.
Bola Ige, Wole Soyinka and Gani
Fawehinmi, men with impeccable caring essence have a lot in common when it
comes to the flagrant abuse of power by a wicked and rude dictator, Obasanjo.
They share a common denominator because today they are considered enemies
by the evil one, unfortunately. Men that fought hard for the freedom of the
wicked man at a great risk to their lives during Abacha’s misrule are his
enemies? One has as a matter of fact killed, a threat earlier issued to the
second and the third insulted by Fani Kayode, a boy who’s not fit to escort
this legal luminary into the courtrooms is the one that rained abuses on him
for daring to speak the truth about a wicked man, something that has become
Gani’s trademark. This boy who was nowhere around during Abacha’s stranglehold
on his new found master is the one dispatched to insult a legal juggernaut
without a reprimand. Let’s also not loose sight that Abacha accused the Yoroba
of employing all sorts of vices to destabilize his government through NADECO.
The same Abacha SSS then are
the one they would like us to believe are anything but evil, doing their
constitutional guaranteed job. Really? Wole Soyinka opined and I
agree, “The agitation by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign
State of Biafra (MASSOB)," although has become a nightmare to the entire
country", may not be the real signal of secession, adding that the gradual
breaking away of some Northern states should be of grave concern to everybody.”
- Champion 9/10/04. A
supportive and collaborating affirmation from a legal eagle, Gani Fawehinmi,
went thus, “If charges are pressed against MASSOB, I will defend them. If
Olujimi should make the mistake of pressing charges of treason against them,
they can be sure that I will be one of the people to defend them. I don’t see
any treason in what they have done so far.”
As far as this writer is
concerned, not much is expected in terms of excellence from a nation where
legal minds like Chief Gani Fawehinmi are relegated to the background while
ignorant nonentities roam wild. Each successive despotic government sidestepped
talented men such as Gani who is better exposed to handle and interpret legal
and constitutional matters while jokers are given a field day to trample on our
collective rights. Gani is a man undoubtedly more suited for the challenges of
navigating that qua-qua nation out of her self-inflicted quandary. He is
however, constantly overlooked without a pause by the government to rethink her
past approaches and the results. Wouldn’t it be more beneficial if Obasanjo,
Akintola Olujimi etc would take a cue to figure why and how a nation went from
a great height to obscurity? Gani’s
legal experiences would have availed that nation instead someone who probably
flunked all his law courses is let loose to screech to his master’s
satisfaction, and you expect a miracle to cure that nation?
This legal Ombudsman (Gani of
course, who else?) is constantly insulted and harassed while filthy mediocre
like Akintola Olujimi sits in his place to ooze anti democratic junks that are
capable of heating up the polity. Someone should please pinch me I think I am
dreaming! This same clueless wet pants rendered a legal opinion that authorized
the removal of the police orderlies of a sitting governor. What sense is served
if Ngige still travels around the nation as the governor of his state, wouldn’t
common sense dictate that his police protection be reinstated? A governor who
by the way is a product of the thievery that occurred in 2003 because we, the
people, know whom the authentic governor of Anambra State is,
Peter Obi that’s who! Let’s also not forget that it was this same Akintola
Olujimi who cited a portion of the constitution that has since expired (1961)
as supporting proof for the illegal, unconstitutional and unjust emergency
declaration in Plateau State. The
present law as is, could be interpreted rightly if only the innate tribal hate
holding these John-Bulls hostage would cut them loose.
The AG’s apathy towards Bola
Ige’s death leaves nothing to be desired after all we are talking about someone
who was not only a brother to Akintola Olujimi but also his comrade in law. He
saw Ige’s death as no big deal, not important enough to get down to finding and
sharing with the world what happened to this brilliant mind. Where was the plot
to cancel Ige hatched and who were there? Who ordered his assassination? Did I
hear someone mutter Tony Anineh and Obasanjo? Shhhhhh don’t distract! How much
painful expositions are the citizens of that nation allowed to endure before
the equally lampooned president realizes that his AG’s ability to intelligently
interpret the law is miserably missing? The inherent dumbness of this AG should
cause lawyers to feel embarrassed such that only a public strike against his
continued stay in office would redeem their disappearing prestige. This Olujimi
dude has single handedly given fly-by lawyering a new meaning and taken it to
another embarrassing level. Obasanjo should therefore for once take a hint and
drop Akintola Olujimi before he screws up further. The world is watching OBJ!
His presence makes respectable men in this profession look silly and cheap.
Chukwu Emeka Ojukwu cannot
exercise his constitutional rights in support of a non-violent assembly but the
Awusa and Fulani oligarchs who support the violent Sharia agenda are spared the
embarrassment of a visit by a low-key, semi-illiterate staff of SSS? Listen to
what the 1999 Nigerian Constitution Part II and No. 10 say about RELIGION. “The
Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any
religion as State Religion.” Akintola Olujimi, a so-called Chief law
enforcer failed to realize that this Sharia crap contravenes and contradicts
the document he and Obasanjo swore to uphold and defend yet they flex their
haggard muscle on a peaceful assembly as if to make what point? His failure to
properly interpret the law shamed some legal eagles from his geographical area,
they rightly opined that the “emergency” declaration was unconstitutional in
short a bull jive since the 1961 section cited by him has ceased.
In order to maintain credible
views thereby drawing the respect of one’s peers, we must remain above fray and
write in solidarity of good or common sense without the childish and baseless
support for an obvious failure solely on geography. We must come together in
love and in one loud voice condemn any government that sees Nigeria from
ethnic perspective in the discharge of its duties. The Yoroba nation must be
reminded that there’s life after Obasanjo therefore the need to establish a
defined and equitable stand in case of rainy days as the saying goes. I
therefore with humility and herein call upon all writers with conscience to
join hands in condemnation of the wickedness of this Obasanjo junta. His
assault on democracy shouldn’t be Igbo, South-South or middle belt thing it
should instead be viewed as an affront to all of us because that nation was
built on the sweat of our ancestors. The gains from this singular gesture
cannot be explained enough since it would also be applied on any future erring
leader who failed to maintain proper leadership. In the absence of common
decency, if the center can no longer hold (never did), then the damn crap
should crash. Kini ode, na wetin?
